UL 9540: 2016 Certification

In May 2022, Lithion, through its HomeGrid product, successfully completed the rigorous testing and evaluation to acquire the UL 9540: 2016 certification audit for its Stack’d Series energy storage solution, combined with the Sol-Ark 12K hybrid inverter. Acquiring the UL 9540 certification confirms Lithion’s Stack’d Series energy storage solution’s reliability and attests for its compliance with industry safety standards.

The UL 9540 certification: 2016, is a safety standard for energy storage systems (ESS), which defines size and separation requirements and ensures that a company’s device does not exceed maximum energy capacities. ESS capacity requirements are defined based on outdoor wall mounted electrochemical, residential use electrochemical or non-residential use electrochemical. The requirements defined within the ESS installations of the UL 9540, aim at preventing the spread of fire from one ESS unit to another. When a company acquires the UL 9540, it confirms the safety of their product regarding multiple facets, including: the battery system itself, containment, functionality, fire detection and suppression, and environmental performance of the ESS.
